How Long Will Probate Take?

Maybe, and that is one of the first questions Victoria can help answer. It depends on how your assets are owned and whether you’ve made plans for them in advance. Some assets may transfer automatically through trusts, beneficiary designations, joint ownership, or payable-on-death accounts. The Person Behind the counsel

Born in Anniston, Victoria Wilson spent her childhood living in Alabama, Georgia, Minnesota, and South Carolina before ultimately returning home to build both her family and her legal career. Victoria earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in English from the University of Alabama before attending Penn State’s School of Law in State College, Pennsylvania. Shortly after returning to Alabama, she passed the Alabama Bar Exam and, just two weeks later, married her longtime sweetheart, Derek Wilson. Today, Victoria and Derek have been married for seven years and are raising their two sons, ages three and six. The Wilson family calls Anniston home, where life is shared with four cats, two dogs, and three fish.

Victoria began her legal career with Hubbard & Knight in Anniston, where she practiced for four years before opening her own practice, Victory Law. She now serves as Of Counsel to Bruce Adams Law, where she leads the firm’s probate practice. Her work focuses on probate administration, guardianships, conservatorships, estate settlement, and select family law matters. Victoria helps families navigate the legal process following the loss of a loved one, whether an estate includes a will or must be administered under Alabama law without one. She understands that probate often comes during one of life’s most difficult seasons and is committed to providing compassionate guidance, practical solutions, and steady counsel throughout the process. Throughout her legal career, Victoria has represented clients in Circuit and District Courts throughout Calhoun and Cleburne Counties, handling a broad range of criminal, civil, probate, juvenile, guardianship, adoption, family law, and domestic relations matters. She also serves as a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem, advocating for the best interests of minors and incapacitated adults in legal proceedings.

Beyond her practice, Victoria serves as Co-Chair of the Calhoun-Cleburne County Women’s Bar Association, reflecting her commitment to leadership within the legal profession and service to the local community. Away from the office, Victoria enjoys spending time with her family and coaching alongside her sons as an assistant on their Weaver T-ball team. Whether she’s in the courtroom, the office, or on the ball field, she believes success isn’t always measured by winning a fight. “Victory doesn’t always mean defeating the other side. Sometimes the best outcome is helping people find resolution through understanding, mediation, or compromise. My goal is to help clients reach the best possible outcome for their unique circumstances—even if that path looks different than they first imagined.”

A safari to Africa in 2012 also left a lasting impression on Victoria, giving her a deeper appreciation for different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life. “Experiencing another part of the world gave me a greater appreciation for the life we have here and the importance of never taking it for granted. It shaped how I see people, how I listen, and how I approach my work every day.”
